Firefighters have received new orange hose, and recently placed it on two trucks.

Chief Josh Keller indicated Lisburn Community Fire Company received a $13,458.11 grant from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner to assist in the purchase of new Large Diameter Hose (LDH).

Per NFPA 1962, any hose manufactured prior to July, 1987 is no longer testable, and must be replaced. Because our LDH had been purchased prior to that date, it needed to be replaced. Yearly hose testing ensures our hose is up to accepted standards and ready for service.

LCFC ordered 2,225′, or more than four tenths of a mile, of hose to replace that carried by Tanker 24 and Engine 24. The purchase was coordinated with other Cumberland County fire companies through the Cumberland County Fire Chief’s Association to take advantage of a bulk purchase price.

Additional hose was also ordered for the Mini-Pumper project supported by Lower Allen Township. Supply and Attack lines have been purchased to prepare the Mini-Pumper for service.

The Engine 24 supply hose was replaced on June 29 by firefighters Dan and Jo Ellen, and several volunteers including Tanya. Engine 24 carries 1700′ in the hose bed in addition to 25′ and 50′ sections. Tanker 24 also had its 25′ and 50′ short sections replaced.
