Work is beginning on the new KME Mini Pumper, with delivery expected by the end of 2014.
Following the selection of KME as the provider of the new apparatus, the Lower Allen Township Board of Commissioners agreed earlier this year to approve the purchase. Commissioners had planned for the expenditure during the 2014 budget process.
While construction is not yet underway on the Mini Pumper, KME has provided a general schematic drawing. Click on the image below to see the full PDF.
The Mini Pumper will be built on a Ford F-550 4×4 chassis, and will feature a four-door crew cab. With a Hale 500 gallon per minute pump-and-roll pump, the truck will be able to knock down brush fires, respond to residential fires, or go wherever is needed in southern Lower Allen Township or surrounding communities.
